The Guidance Center is a medical health facility that provides drug and alcohol rehab services. They are located in New Rochelle, New York. They treat people ages 12 and older for substance use disorder and opioid use disorder. They also treat people who struggle with mental health issues and substance use issues simultaneously. They are accredited by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
They offer an outpatient service that is geared towards people with limited incomes and homeless people. They provide medically assisted treatment (MAT) to people who have opioid use disorder. As part of the MAT program they provide group and individual therapy as well.
People who have issues with opioids are treated with several different types of medications. Naltrexone is given in a slow release injectable form for opioid addiction and in pill form to people with alcohol use disorder. It stops the euphoric effects that opioids have but it is not an opioid itself. Buprenorphine is a synthetic opioid that is not as addictive as natural opioids and is good for people who had a short term experience with opioid misuse.
Therapists most often treat people with substance issues with cognitive behavioral therapy which trains people to think differently so they can behave differently. You may also experience dialectical behavioral therapy which also offers coping mechanisms for dealing with stressful situations or individuals. The treatment you get will be determined by the treatment plan created during your first visit to the office.
