The Morton Center in Louisville, Kentucky, is an organization that provides substance use disorder treatment. Their philosophy for treatment is healing the whole person rather than just the addiction. They use evidence based practices and also use the 12 Step model of recovery. The facility offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP), an adult evaluation program and a recovery group for individuals who’ve completed a treatment program. I like that this organization also provides specialized addiction treatment services for adolescents and children. Clients can choose to set up an appointment or walk in to get an assessment and start setting up a treatment plan.
The Adult Evaluation Program is for individuals who are questioning their use of drugs and alcohol. Clients can receive information that’ll help them evaluate their usage and determine if they have a problem. The staff believes when clients understand their needs, they can better assist them with the goals they want to achieve.
In the intensive outpatient program, clients will participate in group, family and individual therapy. Through group therapy, clients can learn from their peers and receive emotional support. Counselors in individual therapy will assist individuals with changing the thought patterns that influence their addictive behavior through cognitive behavioral therapy.
Patients can also learn techniques they can use to help prevent relapse. Through gaining knowledge and support, patients are better able to make the transition from treatment to recovery. The recovery group that clients can participate in after they complete the treatment program provides them with a safe space to continue sharing their experiences with recovery and learning from others.
