TruHealing Hagerstown, formerly known as Awakenings Recovery Center, provides treatment for individuals who are experiencing drug or alcohol addiction in Hagerstown, Maryland. The staff also provides assistance to clients with co-occurring mental health disorders. Some of the services offered include individual counseling, group therapy and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

The facility provides men’s and women’s rehab programs to ensure that each of their client’s specific needs are met. The men’s rehab focuses on issues that can contribute to addiction such as anger and underlying trauma. Men can feel more comfortable opening up about their struggles and more able to focus without the presence of the opposite sex.

The women’s rehab focuses on issues such as motherhood, family and relationships. Many women who struggle with substance use disorder also have had to deal with physical and verbal abuse. Clients can benefit from the support of other women when discussing these sensitive topics.

Some of the therapeutic approaches that will be used to treat you include acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy. Acceptance and commitment therapy is an approach designed to help you develop mindfulness to manage stressful experiences and avoid using substances as a means of coping. Counselors will also use other approaches, such as expressive therapy and trauma focused therapy.
