Located in Superior, Wisconsin, you’ll find a veterans clinic called Twin Ports VA Clinic. They treat any veteran of any age who is currently suffering or attempting to fully recover from any drug or alcohol addiction. This also includes dual diagnosis care, which is inclusive of mental health conditions that may be interfering with your recovery. This can include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and schizophrenia, to name just a few examples.

Many veterans also may require medication assisted treatment (MAT) when attempting to quit, since it can be dangerous and uncomfortable to quit on your own if the addiction is severe enough. Medications such as Vivitrol and Suboxone can do a great job of reducing withdrawal symptoms and even reducing the intensity of cravings when quitting.

It’s important to note that this is an outpatient clinic. For some, this may be a benefit, since it allows the patient to return home each day after sessions. However, if you feel that your condition requires round-the-clock residential or inpatient care, that kind of service may not be accessible here. Still, you can be referred to a nearby clinic that does offer such services.

This clinic also offers specialized women’s services, such as treatment for military sexual trauma and maternity care. They also offer health maintenance, community support, and several options for counseling.

Some of their counseling services include individual and group therapy and marriage or relationship counseling. All of these three pillars of the recovery community can greatly increase your odds of long-term sobriety by helping you learn new coping skills, deal with trauma, and identify triggers.
