About Union of Pan Asian Communities – San Diego
The Union of Pan Asian Communities is a non profit community health organization in San Diego, California, providing assistance to people of all ages. They provide outpatient mental health and addiction recovery programs to teens, adults, and the elderly, as well as other social services.
They’re uniquely able to provide culturally responsive support to vulnerable communities within the Asian-American community. This can help resolve the feelings of isolation that may be a barrier to care.
Language assistance is available to adults and seniors in languages such as Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. Many of their staff hail from areas like Vietnam and Cambodia and they understand the life challenges faced by refugees who are in crisis and have experienced trauma. They even offer counseling in Burmese.
I like the fact that they provide food assistance to the community and those in need. They address the full spectrum of human need, from the emotional to the material, in those to whom they give aid. Above all, through their addiction recovery programs, they help clients build healthy, happy, and dependency free lives.
