Unity Place of Monmouth County is a private alcohol and drug rehab clinic in Oceanport, New Jersey, that offers addiction treatment and dual diagnosis care. Their holistic substance abuse programs include an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and general outpatient treatment. They accept most insurance providers, including Horizon Blue Cross, TRICARE and Aetna, as well as Medicaid, NJSI, MAP-SBP, Recovery Court and self payment.

Every client is assigned a case manager who shepherds them through the program and ensures their needs are met. Unity Place recognizes that recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all, nor is it always linear. They personalize treatment plans and adjust them as necessary. Case managers meet with their IOP clients every day.

The IOP program meets 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday and includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, and transportation to and from the facility. Specialized meals are available for people with diabetes or other dietary restrictions. Participants attend two or more group therapy sessions daily and one individual counseling session per week.

General outpatient program participants can choose times Monday through Friday that best suit their schedule. They take part in at least one group session per week and one individual counseling session each month.

Group sessions involve a mixture of art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and traditional talk therapy, and focus on different topics. For example, there’s a group that focuses on depression, which commonly coincides with substance use. There’s also a group for those who struggle with anger management, one focused on relapse prevention, and another where participants discuss the book of the month.

I like that Unity Place appears to be genuinely invested in clients’ recovery and general well being. They seem to treat people with respect and strive to make treatment accessible, with transportation assistance, flexible scheduling and multiple payment options.
