Many times, addiction and mental health problems can combine to make a powerful force that is difficult to treat. This is called a dual diagnosis. For some veterans, conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD or schizophrenia can make it difficult to recover from addiction. They may require medications such as Suboxone or Vivitrol to reduce the chance of dangerous withdrawal symptoms and difficult cravings. They also treat individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community and offer health maintenance, community support and counseling services.

The counseling options at this outpatient facility aren’t too flashy but they are solid offerings that have been shown to help greatly in the recovery process. These include individual therapy, group therapy and marriage or relationship therapy.

While simple and straightforward, veterans can benefit from these services tremendously. These are all pillars in the addiction treatment community, giving people the tools to learn coping strategies, identify triggers that may be leading them back to drugs or alcohol, and learn how to deal with their traumas.
