About VA New Jersey Health Care System – Hackensack Outpatient Clinic – Hackensack
Hackensack VA Clinic is an addiction treatment center that treats veterans and their families living in Hackensack, New Jersey. They not only treat drug and alcohol addictions, but mental health disorders too. This is referred to as a dual diagnosis center. Since many veterans experience lots of trauma during their time on active duty, it’s important for these clinics to offer care for individuals with co-occurring conditions. This may include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and PTSD. Of course, other conditions are treated as well. Referrals are not required to get an appointment.
There also may be access to medication assisted treatment for some individuals. Sometimes when attempting to detox, one’s addiction may be so severe that quitting on your own can be dangerous, therefore MAT is a great way to quit in a safe and healthy way. Medications such as Suboxone and Vivitrol can help reduce the intensity of withdrawal symptoms and even reduce any uncomfortable cravings that may pop up.
There are also some women’s services such as care for military sexual trauma and maternity care. In addition to all this, there’s health maintenance, community support, and counseling services.
Counseling services include individual and group therapy, and marriage or relationship counseling. Individual therapy lets you speak directly with a professional therapist who can help guide you in the right direction by giving you the tools you need to succeed in the real world. This can include learning new coping skills, dealing with your trauma, and identifying triggers. Group therapy, on the other hand, will do much of the same but in a group setting where others can keep you accountable.
