About Ventura / Tri-County Teen Challenge – Ventura
The Ventura Tri County Teen Challenge is located in the Foothill Mountains of Ventura, California. They provide help for women who have problems with alcohol and substance abuse.
The Teen Challenge is a 12 month program done mainly at their 143 acre property called Miracle Mountain in Ventura. They are able to house 59 women who have completed a three month program in either of their Los Angeles or Kern County facilities.
The women spend the remaining nine months at the Ventura Women’s Christian Life Training Center or Miracle Mountain to finish the Tri County Teen Challenge. It’s called Teen Challenge due to the program’s beginnings in 1972, but the program is currently for women aged 18 and over.
The women participate in general work programs, Bible studies and chapel services. The center provides opportunities for some to earn their GED if needed and focus on peer to peer mentoring.
Some former clients of Ventura Teen Challenge said not only did their time there help them sober up but it changed their life forever. Another said they have fond memories of the place and it healed their brokenness.
