In an outpatient setting, substance abuse counseling will help you find healing and hope while making positive changes in your life. Through individual and group counseling you’ll develop the skills needed to become independent and sober. Programming includes an element of case management at Tidewater.
Case managers will help you navigate the complex healthcare system and will advocate for your wellness and autonomy. Pregnant substance users are offered priority for treatment and can receive it within 48 hours. Injecting drug users also receive priority treatment and will get scheduled for a session within 14 days.
For adolescents and young adults aged 16 through 25, Tidewater offers a special substance abuse treatment program. Treatment generally consists of 14 sessions of combined individual and group therapy.
Caregiver therapy is also a part of the recovery process. Young people in the program receive a biopsychosocial assessment, peer support, care coordination, and psychoeducation. They will learn to develop a positive outlook on life and how to apply alternative methods to relapse prevention. This is person centered treatment that lasts about 12 weeks.
Crisis stabilization and respite care are offered for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
