About 5A – Alcoholism & Addiction Assistance Association – Phoenix
Craig Shell’s New Solution is a halfway house located in Phoenix, Arizona run by the Alcoholism & Addiction Assistance Association (5A). They provide a transitional housing solution for adult men and women who are adjusting to sobriety and can house up to 46 adults at one time.
They’ve designed this program to be the perfect next step for anyone who’s just completed an inpatient addiction treatment program. Along with sober housing, they also provide two nutritious meals a day and will transport you to and from meetings relating to your recovery.
Residents are expected to take part in a 12-step program of their choosing. You have the option to attend any of the over 50 meetings they host onsite throughout the week, or you can find a group off campus. The idea is that you get used to living independently while also progressing your recovery and building sober habits.
Many people struggle to jump right back into their regular routines immediately following time spent in inpatient treatment. A transitional housing program like Craig Shell’s New Solution bridges the gap between intensive treatment and normal life, giving you time to adjust to sobriety within a supportive and encouraging community.
New Solution is great because it allows you a lot of freedom without compromising the level of support they provide. During the day, you can come and go as you please. They’re conveniently located near public transportation options that make it easy for you to get around town. If necessary, they can also help connect you to local employment and volunteer opportunities. These build your experience and set you up for a stable, sober life.
