About A Renewed Mind – Wauseon

A Renewed Mind is an addiction and mental health treatment facility located in Wauseon, Ohio, that provides outpatient counseling and support to residents throughout Fulton County and beyond. The facility offers programs geared toward adults, youths, and families.

The facility’s range of care extends all the way from very early childhood dealing with issues like fetal alcohol spectrum disorder all the way to adult programs that focus on alcohol and drug recovery. Telehealth services are also available to patients who cannot visit the facility in-person.

OhioGuidestone is a major provider of alcohol and drug recovery services in Fulton County and beyond. A comprehensive study conducted in 2021 revealed that A Renewed Mind and other OhioGuidestone facilities were able to produce positive results for patients experiencing substance use disorders. Among those treated, 65% showed improvements in anxiety, anger, and depression, and 24% of participants saw gains in all three areas.

Clients seeking treatment will undergo an assessment. From there, staff will come up with an individualized care plan for your full recovery. The facility also offers intensive outpatient treatment for those with greater recovery needs.

OhioGuidestone was founded as an orphanage back in 1864. In the beginning, it was created to help provide stable housing for children who were orphaned as a result of the Civil War. Over the years, as more children flocked to the home and the organization grew, it changed its focus to residential treatment.

In 2012, the agency officially renamed itself OhioGuidestone to reflect the new direction of the facilities under the company’s direction. Currently, the group is accredited by UMA HEalth and Welfare Ministries, Ohio’s Mental Health and Addiction Services, Eagle Accreditation, and Council on Accreditation.

It’s also neat that there are local sites in Wauseon to assist your recovery. North Park and Reighard Park are not too far away. You can unwind and stretch your legs between sessions.

Aftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Intensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Medically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Outpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
