About AA – Alcoholicos Anonimos – Grupo Acercamiento – El Monte
The Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting location on East Valley Blvd in El Monte, California, hosts community based 12 step programs for adults struggling with drug or alcohol addiction. There are a variety of meeting types, including meetings held in Spanish.
AA is a national program that helps adults overcome addiction, especially to alcohol. The 12 Steps help members establish and maintain sobriety, and there are 12 Traditions that govern how groups are run. Some groups are open to everyone, while others are closed and only available to members committed to eliminating alcohol use. Groups can be focused on newcomers, discussion, speakers, the Big Book, living sober, and more.
AA members are supported through the 12 steps by a sponsor and also benefit from group support, opportunities to participate in service projects, and a variety of recovery education topics. Participants learn life skills such as self care, managing triggers, deepening spiritual focus, and accountability.
Alcoholics Anonymous groups do not charge a fee, although they may accept freewill donations. Members may also be referred to additional treatments or drug rehab services that accept private insurance plans such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, United Healthcare, and more. Each insurance plan is different, so be sure to contact the insurance company to check your coverage and out of network benefits.
