Adult & Child Health is a community health center in the Southport neighborhood of suburban Indianapolis, Indiana. This location is an outpatient community health clinic that has primary care along with psychiatric and addiction treatment. They can help adults and teenagers with drug and alcohol addiction while also helping you stabilize other areas of your life.
This clinic mostly treats addiction with a combination of therapy and medication assisted treatment (MAT). MAT is a technique that uses specialized prescriptions that reduce your symptoms of physical dependence on a certain substance. They lower your cravings and withdrawal symptoms so those meds can help you stay sober while your therapy sessions help you develop skills for long term recovery.
I was impressed to see that this clinic makes it easy to get started on your recovery. They have walk-in hours when you can go to the clinic to get an assessment and begin a treatment plan. They also have a sliding fee scale so you only pay for what you can afford.
This organization also has numerous specialized community services. That includes a resource team for people experiencing homelessness as well as a youth development program and support services for veterans in addition to other programs and services. Overall, their focus is on building a stronger and healthier community so their services aim to address all local needs
While every client has their own experience here there do seem to be a lot of complaints about clients’ services here. Many clients say that the facility struggles with staffing and high turnover so they have to change therapists often. They also have frustrations with a lack of follow through like poor communication from the staff and the staff being unable to keep clients’ medications filled.
