About Al Anon – Little Rock
Al-Anon is a fellowship of people who have been affected by someone’s alcohol use. These people gather together to share their experiences, strength and hope with each other. This particular meeting is part of the Al-Anon Family Groups organization.
Family and friends of alcoholics attend these meetings to bring positive changes to their loved ones by applying the Al-Anon principles.
There are no dues for membership.
Little Rock, Arkansas has several places that run these meetings. This particular location is in Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Quapaw Quarter. Meetings are held in Mitchell House which is in the middle of the church’s courtyard. Mitchell House is a historic two-story building built in 1911.
Al-Anon hosts three meetings here each week.
Al-Anon is an established peer support group that has been around for decades. This group helps individuals apply principles that improve their individual situation. I like that they are empowered regardless of if their loved one seeks help or not.
Alateen is a part of Al-Alon Family Groups too and it’s for young people who have been affected by someone else’s drinking. This group is generally made up of teenagers.
