About Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) – Por fin Llegue – Fontana

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) — Por fin Llegue is a nonprofit substance abuse support program in Fontana, California, south of Santa Fe Park. AA groups are peer-led support programs for clients struggling with alcohol addiction. They serve adult clients.

AA groups follow the 12-step model of recovery. It should be noted that such groups do not offer clinical treatment and are not overseen by medical professionals. Services they offer include:

The 12-step model originated with AA and has since been adopted by other recovery groups around the world. The program is designed to guide clients through recovery by helping them recognize the harm their addiction has caused and giving them the strength to hold themselves accountable. Though sometimes presented as a faith-based program, AA groups are nondenominational.

Clients start by admitting they have alcohol use disorder and that they are powerless over their addiction and putting their faith in a self-designated higher power (which can be the group itself). From there, clients explore how their addiction has harmed themselves and others while taking responsibility for their actions and making amends with those they’ve hurt. Once they’ve completed the 12 steps, clients are encouraged to remain in the group to continue offering others support and to act as a mentor.

AA groups do not require insurance. However, clients who are considering other programs should confirm their coverage before enrolling, as in-network and out-of-network benefits may vary.

Levels of Care

12-Step

12 step programs such as Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous are support group style programs for individuals who are experiencing alcohol or substance use disorder. At Evoke they use a holistic model of addiction care that includes using 12 step programs. These programs are an integral part of most relapse prevention plans and provide continued support and accountability that support sobriety.

Aftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Outpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
