About Alcoholics For Christ – Christ the King Lutheran Church – Southgate
Christ the King Lutheran Church is a Christian church that’s part of the Alcoholics For Christ network. They’re located out in Southgate, Michigan. They assist people with alcohol and substance use disorders. Their substance abuse programs aligns with their belief that the best way to fight substance abuse is to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.
This facility provides resources and support groups for Christians who are struggling with addiction issues. Although they are not an official part of Alcoholics Anonymous, they do follow the 12 Step method of treatment.
To take part in the support groups here you must admit that you are powerless over alcohol and that the Judeo-Christian God must be the manager of your life. You will have to take a personal inventory of yourself and admit you have a problem with substances to other people.
You will be expected to make amends to people who you have hurt because of your addiction. It’s also important to continue taking responsibility for the things you do that are wrong.
They have groups for the adult children of people with alcohol use disorder as well. Many people who grew up in homes with excessive alcohol use or addiction end up misusing substances themselves.
The group meets every week. It is open to anyone who identifies themselves as the child of a person with addiction issues. They also have weekly group meetings for family members who currently live with someone with an alcohol use disorder. They may host additional community events.
They may refer you to a specialized center if your conditions are acute or if you need clinical assistance.
