About Alpha Healing Center – Jersey City
Alpha Healing Center was a state licensed facility in Jersey City, New Jersey, that provided outpatient substance use disorder treatment services. They took a unique approach to recovery by providing multiple holistic treatment options. The levels of care available included an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and a general outpatient program.
The facility believed that nutrition played a significant role in healing a client from substance use disorder. They offered weekly nutrition and wellness groups to educate patients on healthy food options. A trained chef in the community would cook healthy meals, and the staff also provided healthy snack alternatives.
Mind body therapies were used to help clients learn different ways to relieve their stress without using substances. Some of the therapies that were provided include meditation, guided imagery, energy work and yoga.
Guided imagery involved clients imagining themselves in a peaceful place to maximize relaxation and healing. Clients could take some of the therapies they learned in treatment and practice them outside of the facility. As an example, different places where patients could practice yoga in Jersey City included Liberty State Park or Lighthouse Point.
Alpha Healing Center utilized various brain training programs to treat addiction. One treatment that was frequently used with patients was Brain Music Therapy.
The premise of this therapeutic approach was that personalized music from an individual’s brain wave patterns could reduce anxiety which can sometimes contribute to substance abuse. Other brain therapies that were offered included biometric stress management and the brain health training program.
