About Amethyst House – Women’s House – Bloomington
Amethyst House is a Women’s House based in Bloomington, Indiana. They are a not for profit United Way agency that provides women’s services in a residential and outpatient setting when you experience drug and alcohol addiction. The CARF-accredited facility is also certified by the Division of Mental Health and Addictions and is an approved provider for the Indiana State Nurses Assistance Program.
The residential program provides treatment for those over 18 years with a chemical dependency. To be eligible, you are required to get a job and become financially secure while in the program. Residents receive weekly case management, learn life skills, and participate in outpatient treatment programs while living in the home. They offer preferential treatment and admission for pregnant women and IV drug users.
Women who have dependent children up to age six can live at the home although space is limited. Before admission into the residential program, you must be sober for a minimum of five days unless you are being transferred directly from a detoxification center or hospital. The residential facilities are located in historic homes along city bus lines and within walking distance of many amenities. You prepare your meals from provided food and have laundry facilities and exercise equipment in the home.
They are a not-for-profit organization that accepts donations to help cover treatment. The outpatient program addresses substance abuse issues. You must be clean and sober for two weeks before admission into the outpatient program. You receive a comprehensive assessment to determine the appropriate level of care, which includes evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.
