About AMHC – Caribou Outpatient – Caribou
For the last 60 years, AMHC has provided treatment to individuals who are struggling with mental health conditions and substance abuse disorders. Caribou Outpatient is one of their facilities in Caribou, Maine that treats addiction and co occurring mental health disorders.
What makes this program stand out is the wide variety of services available. Their Driver Education and Evaluation Program (DEEP) provides education and treatment as well as counseling for those convicted of or at risk of a DUI. They have medication assisted treatment (MAT) for those with opioid disorders and Opioid Health Homes (OHH) to assist individuals who are uninsured or have MaineCare and are struggling with opioid use.
There is also a Student Assistance Program and Employee Assistance Program, which help school support students and employers support employees. These programs include confidential assessments and short term counseling along with referrals to additional treatment and support as needed.
The Caribou Center is only one clinic in the extensive AMHC networks. You can easily transfer to more intensive services like the Residential Treatment Facility in Presque Isle and access treatment recovery court in Hancock and Washington counties. There are also peer support centers that offer harm support and recovery coaching as well as peer and group advising. Services at peer support centers are all free.
The Center can also connect you to social services and community resources such as housing, food, clothing, and other necessities. They can connect you to employment preparation and job opportunities as well as recovery meetings.
