Amity Counseling Services is a drug and alcohol counseling center in Orlando, Florida. They treat people who have substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder on an outpatient basis. They also treat clients who are in the justice system and need to fulfill court requirements. Although they are located in the New Life Church of God, they are not a religious organization.
Group Therapy
This counseling center focuses mainly on group therapy but they will provide individual sessions if a counselor thinks it’s necessary. The majority of the clients here are court-ordered into therapy but you can get treatment if you simply feel you have a problem with substances too.
They use the Transformative Self Management model of therapy in their group sessions. This method teaches people to control their emotions and behaviors to effect positive change. It teaches you to adapt to social situations and be more self-aware. The ultimate goal is to make you aware of your talents and potential and to realize your goals.
Court Ordered Services
People who have been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs must take classes on safe driving and the effects of substances on a person’s driving abilities. They are often ordered to participate in therapy as well. This facility is contracted by the Florida Safety Council to provide both group therapy sessions and classes.
People in the justice system who have substance use disorder or who have committed drug related crimes may be court ordered to have a mental health evaluation before they go to trial or as a condition of probation. The staff of this company is trained to provide these evaluations.
