About Aroostook Mental Health Center – Residential Treatment Facility – Presque Isle
Previously called The Farm, this facility is now a residential treatment facility in the Aroostook Mental Health Center (AMHC) network. Based in Presque Isle in Maine, this center supports adults in treating their addiction and substance abuse issues.
While here, you can expect 24/7 treatment services, with the program lasting anywhere between 30 and 45 days depending on client needs. On the daily, you’ll take part in 7 hours of group and individual therapy sessions, with specialized family treatment sessions taking place on Sundays. Group sessions cover topics like relapse prevention, recovery enhancement, and more.
You’ll also have access to weekly and monthly support group meetings on-site for communities like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. As far as integrated care, you’ll also have access to resources and support for experiences like sexual assault, domestic abuse, and more.
On a weekly basis, you can expect to engage in coordination meetings with community providers, in addition to skill-building activities that’ll equip you with the information and techniques that will serve you throughout your recovery journey.
The facility is also set to grow, expanding its capacity from 12 to 18 beds to allow more people to access treatment here, without overwhelming the site with too many residents.
While here, you’ll be sheltered from any distractions, with no access to TV or electronics. Instead, you’ll be encouraged to immerse yourself in the recovery process, filling your days with therapeutic group sessions, reading up on and learning about your condition to better understand it.
Part of this immersion and self-reflection may also include therapeutic journaling, along with exercise to care for your physical health. You’ll also contribute to household chores to maintain a sense of personal and communal responsibility.
