About ATOPS – Denver
ATOPS provides alcohol and drug addiction treatment services for adults, including people involved with the criminal justice system. They have a location in Denver, Colorado about 0.8 miles from the Yale Lite Rail Station. Here, they primarily offer DUI/DWAI Level 2 education and therapy. The beauty of this program is that it is offered virtually using HIPPA compliant Zoom.
There’s an RTD bus stop right in front of the building. If you’re coming from I-25 and Yale Avenue, head east on Yale and then turn right onto South Locust Street. The building will be on your right and Suite 132 is on the south side of the building.
You may be ordered by the court to complete Level 2 education and therapy once you’ve met with your probation officer. Your attorney may also ask you to undergo this procedure. You must complete the education before beginning the therapy. You can’t do both at the same time. ATOPS tries to make the classes an informative and positive learning experience for all.
Level 2 Education covers the effects of alcohol and drugs on driving and how they impact your ability to drive safely. You’ll learn impaired driving laws and how to change your thoughts and actions regarding substance use. It also dives into the facts about substance use, preventing relapse and staying in control to avoid reoffending. The program involves 12 sessions lasting two hours in line with state regulations.
Once you complete that then you can then move to Level 2 therapy. This program enables you to examine unique personal issues while learning valuable life skills. This includes effective communication, building or rebuilding healthy relationships and managing your feelings. You’ll be able to address your chemical dependence and build coping skills that help you prevent relapsing.
The program also involves one session lasting two hours weekly until completion. The total contact hours range from 42 to 86 depending on your court order sentence. ATOPS also provides reporting for DMV in line with their licensing requirements. Overall the programs equip you with the tools to make positive life changes. They help you work through your problems and develop a more meaningful and satisfying life for yourself.
