About Avanti Center – Blaine
Based in Oak Grove, Minnesota, Avanti Center for Girls is an accredited facility offering supportive and intensive care for children and teens assigned female at birth, as well as trans and non-binary individuals of all ethnicities and sexualities. Services are geared toward behavioral and emotional health, including self-harm and injury such as substance abuse.
My favorite thing about this center is its commitment to inclusivity. Given how hostile the current climate is towards trans and non-binary people, I think it’s wonderful that they signal their care is inclusive of people who identify with this. It’s a great sign, and an early indicator to LGBTQI+ folk that this is a safe space.
Residential care at Avanti involves individual and group therapy, specifically dialectical behavior therapy and skills building. Their trauma-informed approach offers peace of mind, while their parenting and caregiver support is great to see given the demographic of their clients. Medication management is also available, as well as psychiatric assessments and dual-diagnosis care. I also love that they provide aftercare services to give individuals the best chance at reintegration into their home and schooling post-treatment.
