About Axis I Center – Barnwell
The Axis I Center of Barnwell is an addiction treatment facility in South Carolina. Operated by the Barnwell County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, the center is accredited by CARF and the DEHC. They offer general outpatient (OP), intensive outpatient (IOP) and aftercare for adolescents and adults.
The Axis I Center of Barnwell is a nonprofit, community-minded organization that believes everyone has the potential to change. They aim to give people the tools needed to heal and thrive so they can contribute to their community. Their approach to care is person centered and holistic, attending to people’s physical, psychological, and social needs.
They accept anyone in need and never turn anyone away for the inability to pay. They take private insurance, Medicaid and self payment. There’s also a payment plan option for those who qualify.
Everyone receives a case manager, who helps shepherd them through treatment. The case manager can also help with referrals for services like additional healthcare or housing and food needs.
The team at Axis Center is certified by a few incredible organizations. This includes the South Carolina Association of Prevention Professionals and Advocates and the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium. They use a range of evidence based treatments, including medication assisted therapy (MAT), counseling, and peer support services, to help people free themselves from addiction and take back control of their life.
Another cool thing is that they have a specific program for people who are currently incarcerated. Recovery coaches meet with people before their release to help them heal before reentering the outside world. That can help folks set the groundwork for a healthier future and reduce the risk of reuse.
