Columbus, the birthplace of famous American playwright Tennessee Williams, is known for its historical significance, original Antebellum architecture, and jazz and blues roots. Columbus is known as the “Friendly City,” and if you need mental health or addiction treatment, you can find it here.
The hospital has an inpatient chemical dependency unit for clients 18 and older. The unit provides a 24/7 medically monitored detox overseen by board certified psychiatrists. The treatment team includes nurses, alcohol and drug counselors, and social workers. After detox and treatment, clients have access to the Alcohol and Drug Aftercare Program at no charge.
Clients with co-occurring mental health disorders may also receive inpatient treatment. Common psychiatric disorders treated include schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Clients receive individual therapy sessions with psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists.
The hospital also offers an eight week intensive outpatient program (IOP) for clients 18 and older with SUD. The nice thing about this program is that it’s intensive but offers some flexibility for clients who need to attend work or school. The program uses the 12 Step model of recovery and helps clients learn to cope with daily life stressors without turning to substances.
It’s not uncommon for clients with SUD to have problems with wounds that won’t heal. The Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine program works with clients with persistent wounds. The team assists clients with wound infections, diabetic foot ulcers, pressure injuries, and other types of wounds to give them the latest in wound care.
