About Behavioral Health Outpatient Center – Atlanta

Grady Behavioral Health Outpatient Center is part of the Grady Healthcare System in Atlanta, Georgia. This location is an outpatient facility on Park Place NE around the corner from Grady Hospital. The Park Place facility has outpatient treatment programs for co-occurring mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and anxiety. They also treat substance use disorders such as alcohol and opioid dependence. The facility accepts many types of private health insurance including Medicaid and Medicare.

A unique feature of the behavioral health center is that it’s staffed by specialists from two medical schools, Morehouse and Emory. This medical specialty can help staff address the physical side of addiction as well as the emotional aspects.

Outpatient treatment includes assessment and diagnosis. It’s important to identify any underlying co-occurring mental health disorders if you’re getting treatment for substance use. Substance use disorder is often a result of self medicating uncomfortable symptoms of a mental health issue. Once the issues are identified, then you can begin to address your substance use and the reasons for it. You’ll attend group and individual therapy as well as have medication management if appropriate.

In the case of an acute psychiatric or medical concern, there’s a new 16 bed psychiatric inpatient center. The goal of the inpatient program is to quickly get crisis situations under control. This may include a substance use or behavioral health crisis.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
