Borinquen Medical Centers Behavioral Health Resource Center is located in Miami, Florida. They offer help with primary care, mental illness and substance abuse for people in South Florida who are over the age of 18.

They have a substance abuse program here called STOPP-E or STOPP. This is an outpatient program geared towards people battling drug or alcohol addiction taking their first step on the journey to recovery.

They have experienced counselors that provide individual and group counseling sessions to help you with early recovery and relapse prevention as well as dealing with potentially strained relationships within your family. You can also get HIV and hepatitis counseling here and they can refer you for residential or inpatient treatment if needed.

Along with general primary care you can get mental health counseling, psychiatric care and services, and medication and case management here. They also provide nutrition monitoring and counseling and they have wellness groups to help people quit smoking, learn about cardiovascular health and diabetes as well as exercise programming.

Targeted Outreach for Pregnant Women
This treatment center has a program that goes into underserved areas to help pregnant women who have HIV or who are battling substance abuse get the care they need. I’m impressed by the targeted outreach program they have here.

Medically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Outpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
