About Boys and Girls Village – Bridgeport
Boys & Girls Village is located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. They strive to help children and families who are at risk to succeed in life and believe social and healthcare equity is essential for all. It’s near Seabright Beach and Black Rock Harbor isn’t too far away.
They serve 50 communities in every county throughout the state. They have over 200 program employees that are able to communicate in 10 different languages for your convenience.
Kids receive a treatment model that combines evidence based treatment and trauma based treatment directly to your home. They also provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for the entire family, and they use medication assisted treatment (MAT) as well.
Their counselors and clinicians will provide therapeutic interventions to help stabilize your home environment. They work with family based recovery, multidimensional family therapy, and multisystemic therapy to help build stronger families while addressing your substance abuse problems.
Their behavioral health services are done with evidence based treatment in your home. They also have after school programs throughout the week to provide extra support and treatment. One great asset they provide is a 24/7 alternative to psychiatric evaluation for children. There are also nutrition and culinary classes and even a parenting center.
They use trauma based treatment methods and other special services as needed. They also have a specialized residential program for boys who have issues with their sexual behavior.
They have a permanency planning program that’s a path to find permanent homes for children or to try and keep families together. In this program you’ll find statewide foster and kinship care and access to family preservation and reunification services.
They have a new Youth Link Mentoring Program that helps LGBTQIA+, cis gender, gender nonconforming and transgender people aged 13-21. It provides support and affirming relationships for those who often deal with rejection or loss due to their identity. They rely on volunteers and organizers to help kids re-integrate with their communities.
