About Bronx Addiction Treatment Center – Pelham Bay
Based in New York, the Bronx Addiction Treatment Center provides treatment and support to individuals experiencing substance abuse and mental health struggles. Support is available to adults aged 18 and older living in the Bronx County and Greater NYC Region. In terms of payment, they accept Medicaid.
As a licensed facility, this location is just one of 12 addiction treatment centers owned and
operated by the State of New York. This 38-bed facility offers inpatient addiction treatment for men and women, including LGBTQI+ folks and monolingual Spanish speakers. Services here address clients’ basic health care needs, as well as more specific psychological, physical, and social symptoms associated with substance misuse.
A special treatment component is offered here focusing on the needs of women and their families. Clinical activities focus on women’s health, their experience of early sobriety, as well as self-esteem, relationships and recovery, as well as women’s rights. A weekly focused family education group is available as part of this, as well as a yearly women’s retreat.
Therapeutic recreation services are also provided for both men and women, and feature sober leisure activities as an antidote to addiction. Just some of these include recovery-specific board games, tai chi, community field trips, aerobics, and more.
The center also works closely with a few criminal justice agencies, and provides a Criminal Justice Workshop. This program is designed to support self-improvement and change for individuals who have gotten in legal or criminal trouble as a result of their substance misuse.
