About Broward Addiction Recovery Center – Fort Lauderdale
BARC – Broward Addiction Recovery Center provides addiction treatment and mental health support for adults in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They offer medically supervised detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization programs, outpatient services, and medication assisted treatment. Programs are available in English, French, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Medication assisted treatment is available at all stages of recovery. This program consists of prescription medications that can help reduce cravings and ease withdrawal pains. Typical medication assisted treatment programs include methadone and buprenorphine. In addition, clients undergo medical, psychiatric, and behavioral counseling. By combining medication with mental health treatment, a greater chance of success is achieved for long term abstinence.
Detox provides stabilization for adult men and women. When detox is completed in an inpatient setting, staff provide 24/7 monitoring of vital signs and withdrawal symptoms to ensure clients do not relapse or experience complications. The length of detox and the method used varies depending on what is best for each person.
Detox generally transitions straight into residential treatment for greater mental and physical stabilization. Accommodations and meals are taken care of so the focus can be on healing from addiction. Common elements of residential treatment include counseling, education, classes, relapse prevention, and aftercare planning.
After inpatient care is complete, clients can leave 24/7 supervision, depending on their recovery progress. They may enter the partial hospitalization program, which is a day treatment program that is highly structured yet allows you to return home in the evening. Clients should not be in immediate danger that would require inpatient hospitalization. The partial hospitalization program incorporates clinical treatment practices for addiction, such as medications, individual and group therapy, and trauma related counseling.
Clients who need less intensive treatment can opt for general outpatient care, which consists of shorter and fewer sessions per week. Either option provides continued support for addiction recovery through individual therapy, group therapy, and educational classes on addiction and recovery. Medication management, faith-based healing, and culture-specific support, such as the Latino Initiative, may also help strengthen recovery. The goal is to continue to move toward a life of recovery and a suitable aftercare treatment plan that allows for reintegration back into society.
