About Broward County Sheriffs Office – Drug Treatment – Lauderdale Lakes
Broward County’s Drug Court Treatment Division in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, offers two programs to help people with drug and alcohol addiction avoid jail time. The Pretrial Intervention Program provides an alternative to jail for new, nonviolent offenders charged with drug-related crimes. When you complete this program, you could have your felony charges dismissed. The Post-Adjudicatory Program ensures convicted felons with issues related to substance abuse don’t return to prison.
Both programs require at least a year of treatment to help you break the cycle of drug use and crime. Treatment is tailored to your unique situation and aims to help you become a productive member of the society.
The Pretrial Intervention Program even includes outpatient care that’s accredited by CARF. This means the program meets high standards for quality care and service. Each participant’s progress is regularly monitored through court hearings by the 17th Judicial Circuit Drug Court Judges and a General Magistrate.
Those who don’t comply with the program requirements are subject to various levels of intervention and sanctions. Each program has specific criteria which you must satisfy before participating. Those dealing with co-occurring mental health conditions can also take part in the program if they satisfy the qualifying legal criteria. The program uses best practices, combining traditional and innovative techniques for substance abuse treatment.
Services include group and individual sessions, educational counseling, clinical interventions, drug and alcohol testing, relapse prevention and case management. They also offer psychiatric services, family orientation and education, sober home bus passes, HIV/AIDs and other STDs education and court liaison.
As an aftercare plan, they may refer you to community support groups like Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, or Smart Recovery to build a support network before finishing treatment. You might also be referred to other treatments like detox, non-residential day or night programs, intensive residential treatment or jail-based educational programs. They offer sliding scale payment, so fees are adjusted based on your ability to pay. However, you’re required to pay weekly.
