About CADAS – Scholze Center for Adolescents – Chattanooga
CADAS – Scholze Center for Adolescents is a residential drug and alcohol program for youths aged 13 to 17 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Accredited by The Joint Commission, this a 40 bed, 24 hour facility located in a serene setting on a quiet valley road. They offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) and medically supervised detox. Specializing in co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, they have a clinical psychologist on staff for mental health assessments.
Along with individual and small group therapies, they offer motivational interviewing and life skills education. There are therapeutic work activities and relapse prevention classes. For recreation they provide exercise equipment and a gym as well as an indoor climbing wall. Meditation and relaxation classes are also part of the curriculum.
While in treatment, young people attend the Scholze School to make sure they don’t fall behind in their studies. This accredited school is licensed by the Hamilton County Board of Education and the state of Tennessee. Classroom activities include an education assessment to determine the appropriate grade level and testing upon admission and discharge. They report that most clients see multi year improvements in reading and math skills during their stay.
Scholze’s family program is another important factor in the client’s recovery journey. It’s designed to help families better understand addiction and the impact it has on their child’s life and their own. Once a month they host a “Family Day,” which is a day-long training course to learn more about specific topics related to addiction and recovery. Parents spend time with their child and listen to presentations from staff about specific areas of education. There are also family therapy sessions involving both the family therapist and the client’s individual therapist. Family activities are also provided.
