About Cape Assist – Wildwood
Located in Wildwood, New Jersey, Cape Assist offers support and recovery services for those with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. This is an outpatient recovery center for families and individuals. The center takes referrals from the court system, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP), Work First New Jersey (WFNJ) and the Intoxicated Driver Resource Center (IDRC). You can refer yourself for treatment as well.
The center does not accept private insurance but they take Medicaid. Your treatment may be funded through an outside source such as the DCPP or you can pay on a sliding scale based on your income.
Support services include drug and alcohol evaluations and assessments. Once you’ve had a comprehensive review of your substance use, counselors will develop a plan for the most effective path to recovery. They offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP), individual counseling and recovery support groups. You’ll have access to case management services and programs tailored to your needs.
This facility offers education and prevention programs as well as support services. There is an array of prevention programs for youth, including the internationally recognized Strengthening Families Program (SFP). The SFP is seven or 14 weeks and varies based on age group. Program sessions begin with dinner after which the kids and their parents break into separate workshops.
Parents work on developing effective parenting skills. The kids learn how to deal with peer pressure, make better decisions, and develop critical thinking skills. Each age group focuses on different skills. The age groups are three to five, six to 11, and 10 to 14. Families have to live in Cape May County to participate. The program strengthens families by fostering connections, building resilience and promoting understanding.
There’s also a special SFP for military families (MSFP). The MSFP is similar to the SFP but addresses the specific life challenges facing military families.
They also have a youth resiliency team, mental health first aid training, and a recovery high school. Kids can attend police youth camps and gaming clubs. The kids’ programs promote positive life skills and prevent substance misuse.
The facility works with businesses to prevent substance use and foster positive work environments. They have school outreach programs providing empowering resources for kids and teachers.
