About Care of Savannah Inc Jack Gean Shelter for Women – Savannah
The Jack Gean Shelter for Women is a transitional living house in Savannah, Tennessee for women who are in addiction recovery. They operate under Care of Savannah, Inc. Transitional living helps you learn skills to live independently so you can get back on your feet after you’ve finished addiction treatment.
Women here can find a stable and supportive living environment. They get counseling and educational programs to help them continue their recovery. It helps to live with peers who have walked the same road they have and can offer a listening ear or word of encouragement, especially on hard days.
A transitional living environment is also free of drugs and alcohol, so there are no distractions that might be tempting if you haven’t been sober too long. The chances of relapsing are especially high right after you complete your treatment plans. After living at a residence like this for a few months, you should have the skills and knowledge you need to transition into living independently.
One past client who lived here said the program saved her life and that it was filled with real women who understand. Another agreed that the program was awesome but noted that they won’t allow any clients who are currently taking medication to manage their addictions.
