About Carol Graham Home – Missoula
Carol Graham Home is a transitional home and part of Western Montana Mental Health Center (WMMHC). The home is found in Missoula, Montana, an area renowned for natural beauty and nestled in the northern Rocky Mountains. The home opened in 2000 to serve chemically dependent women and their children. They provide a safe and stable environment for women, who typically stay between nine and 12 months. No one is turned away because of an inability to pay.
While you are a resident, the staff advocates for and empowers you to learn how to become independent as you transition into the community. You are encouraged to parent your children who live with you, which offers a unique option for mothers. Alongside outpatient therapy, you also learn budgeting, time management and nutritional skills to support your sobriety and long term recovery.
Once your recovery has progressed, you’re also assisted in finding gainful employment. You have 24 hour help and support while living in the facility. They provide recreational options such as music classes, sewing classes and campouts. Most women engage in 12 Step study groups and create a survival book or storyboard of their recovery journey. After leaving the home, women and their children transition to a local apartment complex located just behind the facility where they can stay for one to two years.
The mission of WMMHC is to help build thriving communities using a whole person approach to care. One of the first support organizations offered by Western Montana Mental Health Center opened in 1942. This home is one of 25 programs under the WMMHC umbrella that helps to meet the needs of people in the area. Since 2016, they also have included telemedicine technology in their programs.
