About Catholic Charities – Dover

Catholic Charities – Kent County Office provides a variety of community services for people of all ages in Dover, Delaware. They offer food assistance, shelter services, immigration support, and behavioral health care to help residents overcome their challenges and live healthier lives. If you’re struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction, you can participate in their outpatient counseling services. They accept self pay, private insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare.

While they specialize in outpatient treatment, they can direct you to appropriate resources if you need more intensive care. Their intake worker is in contact with many resources and programs across the state and they’ll help you find the services you need.

Something I like about their counseling program is that they give you the option of seeing a psychiatrist if you think you need medication in addition to talk therapy. During each session, you’ll talk to your therapist about what’s driving your substance use, how you can avoid a relapse, and healthy ways to address issues that trigger you. You’re welcome to come on your own or you can bring your partner and family members along.

Once you call for an appointment and complete your intake assessment, you’ll meet with your licensed therapist within a few days. They try to help clients as quickly as possible. If you need psychiatric support, you’ll visit a nurse practitioner first.
