About Catholic Charities Worcester County – Worcester
Catholic Charities Crozier House is a residential substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program. The house is located at 10 Hammond Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. Crozier House is for men aged 18 and older. The program has partnerships with funding agencies and insurance companies to help clients pay for the services.
Catholic Charities promote the sacredness of life and their mission is to serve the poor, homeless, and infirm while enhancing the quality of life for everyone. They offer many programs and services, including SUD treatment programs like the Crozier House.
The house provides a structured living environment for men committed to accepting a and disciplined community in pursuit of continued sobriety. The program prepares them to live independently or in sober housing.
The program at the house is voluntary and typically lasts three to six months. Most clients come on referral from acute detox units and other community SUD programs.
Although living at the house is voluntary, the rules of the house are not. Clients must accept the rules or they’ll be asked to leave the program.
While at the house, you have to attend in house meetings each week. You’ll attend at least 5-7 Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings each week depending on your status.
You’ll be expected to develop a network of support within your community and write a weekly report of your activities. The report includes in house and community activities, outside self help meetings, and anything related to your treatment. You’ll also complete a weekly calendar that highlights your job searches, recovery activities, and appointments.
Each client has assigned household chores and is expected to keep himself clean and his room neat daily. You’ll be expected to observe the curfew which is 10 p.m. If you miss curfew, you may be asked to leave the program.
Random drug screening is part of the program. If your drug screen returns positive, you’ll be referred to suitable treatment services. The program offers the structure many clients need to learn to live a life in recovery.
