Center for Discovery – Glenview

Center for Discovery has a residential center in Glenview, Illinois. This is a treatment facility that serves girls and young women who are experiencing struggles associated with an eating disorder. They work with females aged 11 to 21. They also have services if your eating disorder exists in conjunction with a co-occurring substance use disorder. They accept policies from most major insurance providers.

When you first start your treatment here, you’ll work with a care team that’ll evaluate your circumstances. You’ll undergo assessments that will determine what type of eating disorder you are struggling with, and if there are any underlying mental health or co-occurring substance use disorders at play. Based on your evaluation, an individualized treatment plan will be created for you.

The treatments here are rooted in evidence based practices. They include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). With these approaches, you’ll learn to think critically about the thoughts and emotions that have contributed to your addiction use. You’ll also learn different coping strategies and techniques that you can apply to help you manage triggers that lead to relapse.

There’s also support through exposure and response prevention therapy. This will help you continue building essential skills through the program. There is trauma focused nutrition therapy and substance abuse therapy. You work with a dedicated care team that will help you identify the root cause of your co-occurring diagnosis and how to work towards a path to recovery.
