About Central State Hospital – Louisville
Central State Hospital is a state run hospital that operates under the Kentucky Division of Behavioral Health. This is a psychiatric hospital that works with adults who have severe mental health illnesses and need supportive treatment to help them regain control over the symptoms and struggles they’re experiencing so that they can eventually reclaim control over their lives.
Though the services here primarily focus on helping you work through your mental health struggles, the care team here is able to address symptoms and struggles you have with substance use as well.
As a state run facility, they accept policies from most major insurance providers including Medicaid and Medicare.
This facility works specifically with adults who have not found success in other private or public institutions in the community or need more intensive services. This often includes individuals who have complex mental health needs and require targeted, closely supervised care.
The clients here have been referred to the program from publicly funded Community Mental Health Centers in the state.
The services you’ll receive here are rooted in evidence based practices. The Division of Behavioral Health partners with Appalachian Regional Health to help address the needs of recovering individuals here. There are dedicated services to help you work through an opioid addiction struggle you might be working through and you can get referred to these programs.
Therapies used here also include the use of medication assisted treatment to help you manage cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
Medication management will also be used alongside counseling services to help get you to a point where you can manage and get through the complex symptoms you’re working through.
