About Chimes – Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems – Allentown
Chimes Services added the Chimes – Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems to their network more than 20 years ago. This long-standing organization has multiple locations in Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania. This Allentown, Pennsylvania, facility is on South Cedar Crest Boulevard. They offer Joint Commission accredited treatment services for people with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. They also treat clients with developmental and intellectual disabilities. They strive to offer services unique to individuals in a culturally competent manner. The facility accepts Medicaid, Medicare, government funds, self payment and private health insurance.
Their substance use disorder treatment services are for adults and children. Both standard outpatient and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are available. These outpatient programs include group and individual therapy. Their IOP is three days a week for a total of about nine hours of treatment per week. Many clients have substance use with co-occurring mental health disorders, so the facility offers a special treatment group for those with substance use and mental health issues. One of the nice things about this facility is that they have at least one therapy group conducted in Spanish.
The staff is trained to create a welcoming environment for clients in the LGBTQI+ community. This includes facilitating an inviting environment free of judgment. Therapists understand how relationships, identities and experiences of LGBTQI+ individuals may affect their mental health and contribute to substance use. Therapists strive to build a trusting relationship to care for the unique needs of these individuals.
Another distinctive program offered here is specifically for military families. The program is for parents and caregivers who have a child with a diagnosed Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The program is offered through a TRICARE grant and is free to eligible families. Families and caregivers receive training to help their children. The program ensures that treatment continues even if there’s a deployment or reassignment.
Chimes offers family based mental health services (FBMHS) for children, teens and young adults ages 5-21. Treatment teams give families integrated support with mental health treatment and case management. The goal is to reduce psychiatric hospitalizations and the need to place a child out of the home.
