About Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma – Talihina
The Choctaw Nation Recovery Center is a residential rehab for adult men in Talihina, Oklahoma. It’s an exclusive rehab for Choctaw and indigenous men. There’s a separate rehab on this reservation for adult women called Chi Hullo Li. The rehab is focused on drug and alcohol addiction.
For 60 days you’ll receive intensive treatment that can help you finally overcome your addiction. Not only that but you’ll start to work toward reaching your potential and leading a more fulfilling life. To do all of that this program includes many different treatment methods and therapeutic activities.
Individual therapy is a core part of this program and so is group therapy. In these sessions you can explore factors that affect your addiction. There’s plenty of educational classes too to teach you about addiction and how it affects you. You’ll develop skills that will help your recovery too. These include coping skills and skills to prevent relapse. Most of all you’ll learn how to experience and enjoy life without drugs and alcohol.
The program at this rehab is based on the 12 Steps like you would see in AA meetings and NA meetings. It also acknowledges that addiction isn’t limited to the person who is addicted. It has a family program that will help your family through this challenging time and start rebuilding family bonds that addiction has damaged.
Along with being a man age 18 or older you have to meet one of two conditions to apply for this rehab. One is to be a member of the Choctaw Nation. Or if you aren’t Choctaw but you live on the Choctaw reservation you have to be a member of another federally recognized tribe. By upholding these conditions this rehab offers an important resource to people who are underserved.
