About Community Behavioral Health Hospital – Fergus Falls
Community Behavioral Health Hospital (CBHH) is an addiction and mental health center in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. It’s part of a network of behavioral health hospitals overseen by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). They provide inpatient substance abuse treatment services to adult men and women through the Community Addiction Recovery Enterprise (C.A.R.E.) program.
Many clients here face what is called a dual diagnosis. This means they are experiencing both a mental health condition like anxiety or depression and a substance use disorder. The two challenges are often connected so the care team treats both together to support the whole person.
The C.A.R.E program stays true to its name by focusing on care and support. It’s designed to help adults work through some of the biggest challenges in their lives. Whether someone is dealing with substance use, mental health struggles or both then they’ll have a safe place to begin recovery. To start treatment, clients need a referral from either a court, a social services agency or one of Minnesota’s community hospitals.
Clients can stay for up to 90 days depending on their progress. Most clients stay for about 48 days. Each day in treatment has a routine that helps bring some order to things. You’ll also have time for individual and group therapy sessions. Some people worry about therapy especially the idea of talking about tough things in front of others but therapy is a safe space. Group sessions offer a judgment free place to connect with others experiencing similar challenges.
They help with things like planning for life after treatment and finding ways to prevent relapse. This includes connecting clients to community resources like support groups and 12-step programs. They also work on strategies for managing stress, avoiding triggers and building a solid support system.
Most people worry about paying for treatment. Getting help is the most important thing and the cost doesn’t have to be a barrier. There are several options for paying for treatment. Some clients have insurance that covers a lot of the expenses. Many clients get help through Minnesota’s Behavioral Health Fund (BHF) if they enroll in Medical Assistance (MA) or meet the income guidelines.
