About Community Corrections Division – Charlotte
Mecklenburg County Community Support Services in Charlotte, North Carolina offers a range of care to children, adults, and military veterans. Support is available for domestic violence, those experiencing homelessness or unstable housing, as well as substance abuse and addiction.
Their substance abuse services are available to those with concurrent mental health conditions. What I love to see here is the variety of programs on offer. Their EASE program, or ‘Enhancing Wellness through Affirming Services and Education’ is designed to provide holistic treatment for addiction and mental health for LGBTQIA+ individuals. This specialized care includes referrals for HIV and Hep C assessments, alongside harm reduction services, peer support, as well as individual and group counseling. Aftercare is included, with individuals invited to participate for up to 18 months.
They also provide a substance abuse day treatment program for inmates in collaboration with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. This includes various therapies, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dual diagnosis therapy, motivational interviewing, and more. These are offered to inmates as both group and individual sessions, and are offered for up to 42 days.
I think it’s great that this facility offers targeted programs for specific social groups, and disadvantaged communities. This way, individuals can find the specific support they need to help them thrive on their recovery journey.
