They participate in the South Dakota 12 hour Public Safety DUI program and the Criminal Justice Initiative – Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Substance Abuse. The DUI Safety Program is often a requirement for people who have been convicted on DUI charges. It teaches you about the risks of substance abuse and how to change behaviors that are hurting you.
The Cognitive Behavioral Intervention teaches people to think differently in order to change dangerous behaviors. It will give you insight into the thought processes that led you to make bad decisions in the first place.
They also offer a Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Substance Use course. This is a program often used for chronic justice system clients. You will participate in many skill building activities. You will also learn better social skills and how to control your emotions.
They offer moral recognition therapy which is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that teaches people to distance themselves from former criminal associates and to stop thinking like a criminal. The goal is to help people become more honest and vulnerable and to help others.
They also offer treatment to people who are not in the criminal justice system. You’ll have a full assessment followed by group and individual therapy. They offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP) which allows you to come in a few days a week for several hours a day, or you can choose their standard outpatient program which involves coming in for treatment once a week.
