The Substance Screening, Treatment and Recovery for Youth program is designed to help young adults and adolescents replace substance use with positive social activities and behaviors.

In the eight month program, you’ll undergo a comprehensive assessment and then participate in a series of individual sessions. The sessions will focus on building skills that can support recovery such as communication and problem solving.

Family and parent sessions will also be a part of the treatment protocol when applicable. Family members will be able to learn how to change the cycle of negative interactions that influence substance use. Additional services that are part of the program include home visits and case management.

The facility is conveniently located near US Highway 6, making for an easy drive to Hartford, Connecticut. The Connecticut Science Center and Elizabeth Park Conservancy are some of the interesting areas nearby that you can visit after your treatment sessions.

In the medication assisted treatment program here, the medications available to help minimize your cravings and withdrawal symptoms are Vivitrol and Suboxone. They can be used for alcohol addiction or opioid addiction and are effective at decreasing common symptoms such as muscle aches and stomach aches.

In combination with medication, you’ll participate in intensive therapy sessions that will focus on developing coping skills to prevent relapse. The facility will also provide you with coaching and peer support services throughout your recovery.

Programs

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
