About Community Services Institute – Springfield
Community Services Institute or CSI is located in Springfield, Massachusetts. They look to offer outreach therapeutic mental health services in the community, homes, schools and virtually. It’s not too far from the Connecticut River.
Their outpatient and group therapy consists of individual, family, and couples counseling sessions. Sessions can be 45-60 minutes long and either once a week or every two weeks, depending on your needs. Therapists here can work with anyone 3 years of age and older.
A major focus is helping with depression, family stress, trauma and those displaying challenging behaviors in the home or at school. They can also help with life transitions and clinicians are trained to be culturally sensitive and work with co-created goals on the path to recovery and wellness.
Therapeutic mentoring is offered for people who are under 21 years old. It’s done in a community and or natural setting and always one on one. They use a strength based approach to help improve social skills, reduce difficulties in communication and improve issues with problem solving. They also want to help you build your self esteem and have a smooth transition into adulthood.
They have a super cool and unique program here called In Real Life Gaming. It’s for children 10-17 years old and it’s designed to transform gaming from an escape to a therapeutic intervention.
If you or your child tends to be socially isolated and struggling with mental health issues, this program can help. Clinicians will guide you to use video games as a way to achieve emotional and social well being, as well as learn a flexible and more healthy gaming behavior and strengthen relationships with your family.
Patients at this outpatient treatment center say the staff are friendly, have a positive attitude and listen to you, and your thoughts and opinions matter here. It can take a little while to get an appointment, though.
