About Connecticut Valley Hospital – Middletown
Connecticut Valley Hospital is located in Middletown, Connecticut. This hospital sits on a sprawling campus that’s made up of over two dozen buildings that offer specialized services covering the gamut of psychiatric and behavioral health needs.
The Merrit Hall, a building on the northern end of the campus, is where you’ll find the Addiction Services Division. This department offers dedicated addiction treatment including detoxification, medication assisted treatment, and gender separated residential care.
This is a state run psychiatric and behavioral health hospital and you’ll find that the programming here is structured, robust, and highly specialized to your recovery needs. Although this program operates in the hospital facility, you’ll find that your treatment program blends both evidence based care and holistic practices.
A really big focus of this treatment program is helping you identify the barriers standing in your way of a sober future. You’ll work to break down these barriers and gain essential recovery skills that will help you move forward, despite your addiction struggles.
Both the men’s and women’s residential units have 30 beds. This offers a supportive place for you to work through recovery in a setting that’s not very populated. This allows you to get to know your care team and your peers so that you really build a sense of community here.
It’s also helpful that you’ll find specialized programs to address your unique needs. For example, there’s a program for adults who are deaf or hearing impaired. There are also programs for pregnant women, adults who are HIV positive, and individuals who have a co occurring mental health diagnosis.
Residential care here is generally short term, lasting no more than 45 days. During that time you’ll get to participate in group counseling sessions and enjoy recreational activities, work on completing your GED, take in music therapy, and attend specialized workshops that cover parenting skills, grief and loss, and other life challenges.
