About Cook Inlet Tribal Center – Ernie Turner Center – Anchorage
Cook Inlet Tribal Center – Ernie Turner Center is in Anchorage, Alaska. They have alcohol and drug addiction services for men, women, and children. This includes Alaskan natives and the LGBTQ+ community in the county. Among their programs are detox, inpatient treatment, a partial hospitalization program, an intensive outpatient program, and outpatient treatment. Medicare and Medicaid are accepted.
The detox program is medically supervised and lasts for 5-7 days. Medically supervised means that you may receive meds to help with relapse and withdrawals, if needed. Once you’ve stabilized, you’ll move down to a less intensive level of care.
The inpatient program is for those who need 24/7 supervision. Mental health treatment and addiction interventions are provided. They have 14 beds for men and women together. There’s an emphasis on traditional Alaskan native cultural healing practices.
The outpatient programs are divided into different intensities, depending on your acuity. The partial hospitalization program, for instance, meets throughout the week for a total of 30 hours on average. Therapy and group classes are provided. The intensive outpatient program meets three days per week for three hours at a time on average, which also includes group therapy. The general outpatient program helps you transition back to your community with self help groups and 12 Step groups. If you’re under a court order, legal advocacy is available.
A youth program is available to assist children and young adults up to age 24. A case management team helps you with issues relating to school, finding work, drug abuse, and any behavioral issues that are part of the growing up process.
