About Cooweescoowee Health Center – Ochelata
The Cooweescoowee Health Center is located in Ochelata, Oklahoma. This is an outpatient care clinic that provides a continuum of mental, medical, and behavioral healthcare services to children, adults, and families who identify as members of the Cherokee Nation. You don’t have to be a member of the Cherokee Nation to receive care here, however, you can expect culturally competent, spiritually informed care when you start your treatment track.
There’s a dedicated behavioral health department here that can address substance abuse struggles that are impacting your life or the life of a loved one as well.
They accept Tribal insurance along with policies from most major insurance providers.
The behavioral health department offers comprehensive care to address the substance abuse struggles you’re facing. Through intentional counseling, you’ll learn how to identify triggers and manage negative emotions that have contributed to your substance abuse in the past.
There’s a strong focus on addiction education and this is done through relapse prevention support, parenting skills classes, and psychiatry services among other approaches. Age appropriate services are also available through their HERO program which targets individuals 21 years of age and younger.
Their behavioral health care department can support you through medication assisted treatment (MAT) if you have an opioid use disorder. This treatment will be used alongside other therapies including individual and group counseling, outpatient treatment services, and even spiritual support.
You’ll also have access to harm reduction services through their prevention program. These services include everything from Narcan training to substance abuse prevention activities. These activities are especially impactful for at risk children and youth.
This clinic also has supportive care that can connect you to social services to improve your life. For example, you can have help applying and receiving services through the women’s, infants, and children’s program (WIC). You’ll also get connected to different wellness services in your community.
